Businesses, community groups, for Enterprise Town project

All businesses and community groups in Kilcullen are being invited to take part in 'Expo' events as part of the Kilcullen Enterprise Town project sponsored by Bank of Ireland, writes Brian Byrne.

Details of the Expo weekend planned for 22/23 April will be outlined at a launch event in the Town Hall next Tuesday 15 March, beginning at 6.30pm.

An Enterprise Town committee is currently in the process of contacting the businesses and community organisations, inviting them to send representatives to the launch event.

While participation is anticipated primarily for enterprises and organisation in Kilcullen itself, applications from neighbouring communities will also be accommodated.

Guest speakers are to be invited to provide motivational and leadership talks during the weekend. Entertainment will be provided by local artistic and musical organisations. Involvement of local schools — primary and secondary — will also be a feature, and will include a Student Enterprise Award.

The Bank of Ireland 'Enterprise Town' scheme is a €600,000 nationwide initiative to boost economic activity in local areas. The idea was launched in 2013 and by the end of last year, more than 50 towns of all sizes around the country had taken part.
