What's in our river?

A very special riverside event next Saturday will introduce all present to the kind of life that’s in our River Liffey in Kilcullen, writes Brian Byrne.

What's in our river? is being presented by Dr Jan Barrs, a freshwater ecologist who lives in Castlemartin and works in the Zoology Department of UCD, and is organised by Kilcullen Community Action.

The free event takes place on the bank in An Tearmann, just below the bridge, and anybody interested can drop along any time between 3.30pm-6pm. It is suitable for both children and adults.

Dr Barrs provided a similar opportunity for CPC students back in 2013, and before that on one of the Wild Weekend events in 2012 associated with the Biodiversity Study conducted by Dr Mary Tubridy.

NOTE: To give you a flavour of next week's event, the photos from the 2012 one are here.
