Council asked to explain sewage outflow

Kildare County Council has been asked to investigate or explain what seems to be raw sewage going into the Liffey near Castlemartin, writes Brian Byrne.

The location is at the overflow pipe from the Sewerage Pumping Station, and the Diary has been told that this outflow happens ‘regularly’.

The Pumping Station was completed in 2000 and provides a direct link to the Osberstown Treatment Plant commissioned in 1981. The link allowed development of housing in Kilcullen which had not been possible for more than two decades.

A sewerage services pipeline from the Curragh Road to the Pumping Station was laid in 2013 which among other things improved the sewage disposal from Kilcullen Community Centre.
