An audience in thrall at Sing for Jack

Kilcullen Gospel Choir.
When just two acts can hold an audience in thrall for nearly three hours, they're something special, writes Brian Byrne.

But that was the case last night at Chill Mhuire church in Newbridge, when the Kilcullen Gospel Choir and the Dublin Gospel Choir entertained at the 'Sing for Jack' fundraiser organised by Lorna Brophy and her colleagues from Naas Hospital.

Little Jack Ryan is just 18 months old and in Temple Street Hospital since he was born with problem in his stomach wall. The event last night was to raise funds to help him live at home, to where he discharged just before Christmas.

Jack Ryan's family.
Jack's family, including he elder brother Kyle, were special guests at last night's concert, which was attended by a 'full house' of many hundreds, and supported by many individuals, organisations and companies from mid-Kildare and Dublin.

We'll have some video here later so you can get a flavour of the evening, but in the meantime all the pictures are here.
