Mark Friday evening in your diary

The official switch on of the tree lights and the rest of the Christmas lights in town is this coming Friday, things kicking off from 6pm in the Square.

All welcome, especially the younger folk, as Santa Claus will be doing the honours.

Then you can all head up to the Church for the annual Christmas Choral Concert in Kilcullen Parish Church. The programme beginning at 7.30pm will feature the Millicent Singers (above) directed by Alan Kelly, the Gormanstown Choir directed by Dorly O'Sullivan, and visiting choirs Inceolo from Newbridge and the Curragh Parish Choir directed by Aidan Feeley.

Young local musician Ella Fallon, a Leaving Cert student from CPC last year and now studying music in DIT and is an organ scholar with Simon Harding, will also perform, as will Dean Phillip Knowles. Tickets are €10 and available in the Parish Centre, or phone Peter Moloney at 087 8172489. Last year's Concert raised €1,100 for the Parish Church Organ Fund.
