Kilcullen Relay for Life raised €4,210

Some members of the Kilcullen Relay for Life team, with Martin Heydon TD, at Punchestown.
A presentation of a cheque to the Irish Cancer Society of the monies raised at The Kildare Relay for Life will be held tonight, Friday 13 October, in Moorfield GAA Club, writes Sabina Reddy.

The Kilcullen Group raised €4,210 of the overall monies raised. This is double on what we raised last year, mainly through the efforts of Ann Gannon in selling €2,000 worth of the candle bags.

This year the Relay was held in Punchestown Racecourse. The numbers attending were somewhat down a little on last year but the candle of Hope Ceremony was as poignant and special as ever. Relay for Life is 24 hours of Fun packed family weekend which celebrated those who have come through cancer, remembering those who did not survive the fight and the opportunity to fight back through talking about it and fundraising.

The survivors of cancer were treated royally over the 24 hours through dinner and various treatments like hair and makeup, foot massage, angel therapy, and other nice treats.

Kilcullen Group will be meeting shortly to plan the next year's activities and if anyone would like to join in please contact us through our Facebook page or call 087 6807139.
