Martina Reilly play for Town Hall Theatre

A one night only presentation of Martina Reilly's 'A Tale of the Expected' will take place in the Town Hall Theatre on 6 January, writes Brian Byrne.

A successful writer of novels, Maynooth based Martina has already had one play performed, one based on 1916 and sponsored by Kildare County Council.

'A Tale of the Expected' is being produced with a number of her friends under the name of Down At Heel Productions, and is on tour in the new year.

The Kilcullen performance can be booked online at Eventbrite, or by calling 087 2830587. Tickets are €12 but early bird booking will get a discount to €10.

Martina had her first novel published in 1997. 'Livewire' later won for her an International White Raven award, and she won a Bisto Book Merit award for 'Dirt Tracks' on which there was later a play based which was eventuallystaged by An Nuadha Players in Maynooth.

'A Tale of the Expected' tells the bitter-sweet story of Lana and Roman who are about to become parents. Lana, 18, is determined to have the baby, Ronan is ill at the thought. They have one thing in common, watching re-runs of 'Deal or No Deal'
